Education

I am a recent college graduate of Southern Oregon University with a degree in Anthropology (archaeology) and a minor in Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies. I graduated this last spring with honors and a GPA average of 3.75 throughout my undergraduate experience. One of my main goals now is seeking to help current students succeed. I have worked as a tutor both in the past and currently with high school and college students. Writing, organization, and social sciences (anthropology and sociology) are the main subjects in which I specialize. For college students who feel their writing is strong aside from grammar/punctuation, I am available to edit (proofread) work. This includes checking grammar, the flow of the paper (reworking awkward sentences), etc. For those who want to improve their writing skills, I can help you start from the beginning. A sample process may include steps such as: research - content analysis - essay organization/layout - writing - revisions/editing. In regards to organization and study skills, I am available to meet with you and help you develop a study plan tailored to your schedule and needs or help to create an efficient way for you to track your assignments. Rates: Tutoring: $12/hour Editing/proofreading: $3/page (double spaced and minimum of 3 pages) I am available to meet with students on campus (SOU or RCC) or other studying conducive locations. Please feel free to contact me through University Tutor with your name, subject, and whether you need tutoring or editing help.

Experience

In the past, I have tutored students one on one in SOU's writing center. In addition, I tutored fellow anthropology and social science students, helped direct research papers, and improve research and organizational skills. I have facilitated groups of students in problem solving and mentoring through the First Year Mentor Program at SOU. I was also a mentor to first year students and can help new college students transition into their learning environment or help high school students prep for what may be expected of them in college. I am seeking to be a tutor because I greatly enjoyed the tutoring experience and would love to continue to help more students succeed and grow more confident in various subjects.

Hobbies

In my spare time I like to read, knit, and spend time with my pet rat, Harold. One of my favorite shows lately is the X Files (it's great to knit to!). I have taught Argentine Tango in the past and continue dancing as well as biking for fun and transportation. Some of my upcoming goals include travelling around the Pacific NW next summer and adopting a dog from a local shelter.
