Experience
I have extensive experience working with kids from Kindergarden to 8th grade both through tutoring as well as through coaching middle school speech all four years of high school. I have tutored three kids in basic math and writing - 1st grade, 3rd grade, and 5th grade. Though I am able to tutor a variety of subjects (such as Kindergarden to 8th grade math and basic US History), my particular strength is in tutoring French language. I took 4 years of French in high school (during which I tutored several of my peers), including AP French (in which I received a 4 on the exam). I am currently in my fifth year of study at Southern Oregon University. In English, I am able to tutor in reading comprehension and analysis, as well as academic writing. In English, I enjoy being able to encourage students to look below the surface of the text and being able to appreciate literature from both an artistic and historical context. However, when it comes to academic writing, I am much better working with high school students. If you would like, I am perfectly willing and able to give a recent sample of my writing. I am fluent in the structure of essays as well as different formats of citation, and due to my history in Speech and Debate, I know how to construct a well-crafted argument.
